Tour of Boompjesven and Loonse Drunense Dunes

Your walk starts at Hotel Restaurant D\\\'n Dries in Giersbergen. Time seems to have stood still in Giersbergen, the hamlet consists almost entirely of thatched long-façade farms. From here you walk through the Loonse and Drunense Dunes. In this national park you will find vast heathlands and quiet forests. And of course the famous drifting dunes to which this area owes its nickname: the Brabant Sahara. The route takes you along the vast drifting dunes, but also through the quieter eastern part. Here you walk through a wetter part around the Boompjesven, which connects the dry sandy area with the wet marshland De Brand. Now Natuurmonumenten is restoring the marshy fen area. In this way the heathland is also returning here.
