Tour of Boompjesven and Loonse Drunense Duinen

Your walk starts at Hotel Herberg & Brasserie D\\\'n Dries in Giersbergen. Time seems to have stood still a bit in Giersbergen, the hamlet consists almost entirely of thatched, long-fronted farmhouses. From here you walk through the Loonse and Drunense Dunes. In this national park you will find extensive heathlands and quiet forests. And of course the famous drifting dunes to which this area owes its nickname: the Brabant Sahara. The route leads you along the extensive drifting dunes, but also through the quieter eastern part. Here you walk through a wetter part around the Boompjesven, which connects the dry sandy area with the wet swamp area De Brand. Natuurmonumenten is now restoring the swampy fen area to its former glory. This is how the heathland returns here.
