Walking tour of Loonse Drunense Duinen

The starting point of this route is Resort Kaatsheuvel BV. From here you walk through the Loonse and Drunense Dunes. In this national park you will find extensive heathlands and quiet forests. And of course the famous drifting dunes to which this area owes its nickname: the Brabant Sahara. You walk to the Ice Rink, a fen that was dug out in the 1930s to use as an ice rink in the winter. You can skate four hundred meters around an island. The fen indeed regularly freezes over in the winter, a beautiful sight! But the water is also beautiful to see. On the way back you will cross part of the drifting dunes: you will find thirty square kilometers of living drifting sand, deposited by polar winds during the Ice Age.
