Tour of IJsselstein and Hollandse IJssel

This city walk through IJsselstein starts at Hotel Epping. Take a look at the map immediately because you will pass here halfway through, this is an ideal place for lunch! IJsselstein owes its name to the Dutch IJssel and originated as a settlement near IJsselstein Castle. The contours have remained virtually unchanged since the Middle Ages and the regular street pattern also dates from the Middle Ages. You will find beautiful monuments such as the old IJssel Bridge, the St. Nicholas Church, the old town hall and along the Waaggebouw. You will also walk past De Windotter flour mill from 1732, which is beautifully displayed on the fortress wall. The mill is still in operation. After a tour along the Hollandse IJssel, you walk back into the city past the old castle tower.
