Round IJsselstein and Hollandse IJssel

This city walk through IJsselstein starts at Hotel Epping. Take a look at the map right away because you will also pass here halfway through, this is an ideal place for lunch! IJsselstein owes its name to the Hollandse IJssel and originated as a settlement near IJsselstein Castle. The contours have remained virtually unchanged since the Middle Ages and the regular street pattern also dates from the Middle Ages. You will find beautiful monuments such as the old IJssel bridge, the St. Nicholas Church, the old town hall and along the Waag building. You also walk past Korenmolen De Windotter from 1732, which adorns the fortress wall beautifully. The mill is still in operation. After a tour along the Hollandse IJssel you walk back into the city past the old castle tower.
