Papendrecht, South Holland, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 1920408
Provided by: route.nl
Your cycling route starts at Apollo Hotel Papendrecht. From here you cycle through the Alblasserwaard, a vast peat meadow area. The Alblasserwaard has its own regional culture with regional customs, language and a typical architectural style. You drive to Kinderdijk, where sixteen polder mills were built in 1738 to protect the village against the water. The second mill on the west side of the Middelkade can be visited. The mills are on the UNESCO World Heritage List, not only because of the mills themselves, but also because all the technology used for water management since the Middle Ages can be seen here. At Oud-Alblas you cycle along the intriguing river Alblas. You drive back to your starting point through the Alblasserbos. A forest is a rarity in this vast region.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
