A tour of nature reserves in Lelystad

From here you can take a nice bike ride along the nature reserves that Lelystad has to offer. Nature Park Lelystad was created in the 1970s as a recreational area for the residents of Lelystad. You can admire a reconstructed prehistoric settlement and a shipwreck from the nineteenth century. You continue along the edge of the Hollandse Hout, a relatively young and varied forest west of Lelystad. Poplars, willows, alders, oaks and beeches grow there. You are cycling four meters below sea level! From the dike you have a beautiful view over the Oostvaardersplassen, the famous new wilderness. With a bit of luck you will see the white-tailed eagle that breeds in this area skimming over.
