It becomes clear that you are on an island when you cycle through the old rolling landscape of Wieringen. On the one hand you can enjoy the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site. This changes with the tide. On the other side you will find the wide view of the Wieringermeerpolder where the Zuiderzee used to be. From the IJsselmeer to the Amstelmeer, and you have gone around the island. Boulder clay lumps and boulders are traces of the Ice Age. The old Wierdijk still meanders across the island. You can eat a nice fish in the harbor of Den Oever, visit the 12th century Michael's Church on Oosterland and admire the view of the 'heights' of Westerland. At Wieringer Eiland MuseumJan Lont you can visit an old Wieringer farm. You often encounter these typical farms along the route. Back at the tourist office you can admire the Viking treasure found here from the Viking Information Center.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
