City walk Breda: Beguinage and Upper Mark

Your walk starts at Apollo Hotel Breda City Center. From here you cycle through Valkenberg city park, so named because the Nassaus had their falcons hunt here. These ancestors of the royal family lived in Breda Castle, which was built in 1353. In Catharinastraat you pass the old Walloon Church. Take a look at the Beguinage, founded in the thirteenth century, you really go back in time here. After a beautiful meander along the Boven-Mark, you walk back past the terraces on the Grote Markt, near the fifteenth-century Grote Kerk. Take some time here to soak up the atmosphere! You walk back past Brecht's House, which dates from the fourteenth century. A beautiful spot on the historic Cingelstraat.
