Nature route Breda: Ulvenhoutse Bos and Strijbeekse Heide

Your cycling route starts at Apollo Hotel Breda City Center. From here you cycle through Valkenberg city park, so named because the Nassaus had their falcons hunt here. These ancestors of the royal family lived in Breda Castle, which was built in 1353. In the Ulvenhoutse Bos you will find a rich flora, such as old sessile oaks and beech trees. Then you cycle through the Chaamse Bossen. The sand drifts, wet heath and fens here are planted with Scots pine. Via Chaam you drive to the Strijbeekse Heide, past the fens Zwarte Goor and Langven. After the nice village of Ulvenhout you arrive in the beautiful Markdal. The Mark has been meandering here again since 2004. You cycle close to reed collars and flowery grasslands while looking out over the rippling water.
