When the Zuiderzee was drained, the Netherlands gained an extra province that is about five meters below sea level: Flevoland. The province is mainly characterized by large open spaces and a tight layout, which makes the youngest province of the Netherlands"more modern\\\" feel than the other provinces. Flevoland consists of two parts, the Noordoostpolder and the largest artificial island in the world, the Flevopolder. The route takes you on a journey of discovery through the southern part of the Noordoostpolder, with its tight plots and dead-straight ditches.
