Tour of the Horte Estate and Mataram

Your walking route starts at Restaurant Zalen De Mol. From here you walk to the De Horte estate, built in the early 17th century in a predominantly French style. You can enjoy the symmetry in hedges, orchard, grape greenhouses and the sequoia Sequoiadendron. Winding paths provide surprising views. In addition to the country house, you will also find a gardener's house, farm'De Horteboer\\\' and the former billiard room'het Witte huis\\\'. After a visit to the town with the exciting name Mataram, you walk back to your starting point across the estate. Mataram Estate owes its name to its first owner, JM van Rhijn, former resident at the court of the Sultan of Mataram. He named the country estate he purchased after the country of Mataram in the former Dutch East Indies. You can enjoy lovely walks on the estate.
