Round Lonnekerberg near Oldenzaal

Just past Lonneker you walk through the woods at the foot of the Lonnekerberg, a 61 meter high hill that is part of the moraines around Enschede and Oldenzaal. This is one of the contiguous nature areas between Oldenzaal, Enschede and Hengelo. The meandering Jufferbeek feeds nature and you will also come across springs here and there. You will encounter all kinds of coniferous trees in this old wood production forest, which is slowly changing into a more natural forest with a greater variety of animals and plants. The rebates are very special: ramparts with trees and channels for drainage. Another thing to look for are the mushrooms, there are species here that you only find in this place!
