Tour of Oudeschans, Bellingwolde and Blijham

From B&B miniCamping Blauwestadhoeve you drive along the water of the Oldambtmeer, which was built on former agricultural land. Further on you pass through Oudeschans, a former fortress where you can take a look back in time. Bellingwolde enjoys a protected village view. On the Hoofdweg you can still see some capital farmhouses from Groningen's golden age of grain. The Magnus Church from 1527 and the former courthouse from 1643 are also beautiful. Boschplaatse in Blijham was built as a mansion around 1580. In 1966 the house lost its function as a farm as a result of the first land consolidation in the Netherlands. The route also leads past the nice Scheemda, perhaps the most beautiful village in the Oldambt. Due to a quirk in the age-old allotment pattern, this is not a ribbon village.
