Tour of Hoorn

Hoorn and the underlying polder landscape are ideal for a wonderful day of cycling. From the harbor you drive out of the city along the Markermeer. Get some fresh air and enjoy the view over the water. In the polder landscape you see canals, ditches and high skies. Of course you can also admire typical Dutch heritage: windmills! The first is the Westerveer, a polder mill from 1873. Further on you drive past the third version of De Krijgsman: the first mill was blown over, the second burned down due to lightning. In Schellinkhout you will pass some authentic bell-shaped farms. The beautiful monumental Town Hall from 1765 is located on Dorpsweg 118. Just before Hoorn you pass the seventeenth-century Groote Molen. The route ends at Camperplaats and Jachthaven de Grashaven.
