Cycling through the Kromme Rijn region from Zeist

From Zeist you can cycle straight into the Kromme Rijnstreek, a low-lying region at the foot of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. You cycle past grasslands and orchards here. There are many old country estates in the area around Langbroek, such as Kasteel Sterkenburg. Some country houses initially consisted only of a fortified residential tower and were only embellished later. From a distance you can already see the church tower of Cothen. The area around the centuries-old Kasteel Rhijnestein is a protected village view. You also pass Oog in't Zeil, a corn mill from 1869. Via Werkhoven and Bunnik you cycle to Slot Zeist. This pleasure garden was built in the seventeenth century by order of Willem Adriaan van Nassau, a grandson of Maurits van Oranje. At Hotel FiGi you can enjoy a coffee on the terrace.
