For years, smugglers from Belgium and the Netherlands were active in the surrounding forests of Strijbeek. This walking route takes you in their footsteps. The smuggling path runs along the Goudbergven to the Belgian nature reserve Den Elsakker. Already in the Goudbergven you experience the mysterious atmosphere surrounding smuggling between the hills, oaks and pines. The route takes you along the Patersmoer, a fen that has been off-limits for years. The start and end point of this special route is De Smokkelaar Bourgondisch Genieten in Strijbeek. The farm from 1936 has been beautifully restored and has a warm and cozy atmosphere. This way you can enjoy your snack and drink even more at this hospitable and child-friendly location. In addition to pancakes, there are also other delicious (smuggling) meals on the menu.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
