Enjoy in and around Renesse

Sun, sea and beach: an ideal recipe for a holiday, but also for beautiful bike rides. This route takes you across Schouwen-Duiveland, one of the islands of Zeeland. It's wonderful to get a breath of fresh air with a view of the waves, whether you're cycling or having a picnic or snack on a bench. Also in the polder there are views with high skies that are striking.

Renesse is a centuries-old ring village around the sixteenth-century Jacobuskerk, whose tower dates from the fifteenth century. You will see several monumental buildings, such as't Huys Grol, a former country estate whose history dates back to 1599. The current building dates from the eighteenth century.

In the polder you can enjoy the typical Zeeland tranquility and the open landscape. You cycle through small villages such as Ellemeet and Looperskapelle. You drive past Molen't Hert, a corn mill from 1748. On top of this mill there is a weather bar in the shape of a deer. A little further on you can already see the next mill appearing on the horizon: De Lelie, a flour mill from 1868.

Via Scharendijke you drive back towards Renesse. First along the shore of the Grevelingenmeer, past the Brouwersdam - the seventh part of the Delta Works - along the North Sea where the eternal surf, the wide sandy beach and of course the blue of the sea form a beautiful backdrop for your cycling tour.
