Leusden offers the best of both worlds. This charming town lies in the transitional area between the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and the Gelderse Vallei. You'll first cycle into the greenery of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Deciduous and coniferous trees grow intertwined in the vast forests. It's wonderfully quiet here, an oasis of tranquility disturbed only by twittering birds or laughing woodpeckers. A little later, you'll pass through the centuries-old Den Treek estate. Here you'll see one of Leusden's most beautiful country estates: Huize Den Treek, a former farmhouse mentioned as early as 1337. On the way back to Leusden, you'll cycle along the beautiful Valleikanaal, a waterway that formed a key part of the Grebbe Line.
