Description
De Rooie Fik was a Hilvarenbeek wanderer. He lived from 1894 to 1977. Forty years after his death, he is still very popular. Willem Smulders, as he was actually called, is one of the most famous Hilvarenbeek residents ever. He also continues to enjoy great fame in the surrounding villages.
The walking and cycling routes with the theme De Rooie Fik were originally developed by brothers Karel and Paul Spapens and Ine Spapens-van den Biggelaar. In collaboration with Museum Brewery De Roos, they compiled both routes in the context of the book they wrote in 2016 about this famous Hilvarenbeek wanderer.
This bike tour starts and ends at the corner of Wouwerstraat and Vrijthof, at De Roos. The route is approximately 31 km long.
