Avifauna - Uithoorn

You leave from Avifauna and cycle in the direction of Uithoorn. The route passes real South Holland villages such as De Hoef, Bilderdam, Zevenhoven and De Kwakel. They are real peat polders and reclaimed land with the best clay. There is also plenty of water, you cycle along the Langeraarsche Plassen, the Braassemmermeer, the Drecht, Amstel and Kromme Mijdrecht. You may spot various meadow birds, such as the black-tailed godwit, lapwing or the curlew. Along the Kromme Mijdrecht in De Hoef, the nice skating museum of Toon van Kempen is worth a visit. Between the Kwakel and Bilderdam, the route goes over the original towpath, very beautiful but less suitable for fast cyclists. Here is South Holland at its most beautiful, but the cycle path at its narrowest.
