Description

The route takes you along the coastline towards Den Helder. You will also pass the Groote Kaap lighthouse. The steel tower is almost seventeen meters high and is still used to signal traffic on the water. The lighthouse and the horizon behind it also provide a beautiful picture during the day. Via the dunes you reach Museum Fort Kijkduin, a national monument. The fort was built in 1811 by order of Napoleon Bonaparte. A little further on, Lange Jaap towers above the horizon, a lighthouse that was lit in 1878. At almost 64 metres, it is the tallest cast-iron lighthouse in Europe. You drive back via Het Koegras polder.
