Description
You can enjoy open landscapes with picturesque villages, ditches and canals, grasslands and dunes in the picturesque North Holland polder. This route takes you through the beautiful inland and along the coast. Admire the beautiful views and get a breath of fresh air with this trip.
Ancient hamlets
Here and there you will find a bulb field in this area. In the spring those fields turn into beautiful seas of colorful and fragrant flowers. You will also get to know the Zijpe and Hazepolder along the way. Until the 12th century this was a high moor area, but the land fell in height due to reclamation. This increased the risk of flooding. At the end of the 16th century, the polder was completely surrounded by dikes and shortly after this reclamation, hamlets such as Burgerbrug and Sint Maartenbrug arose here. This route takes you along these hamlets, among other things.

Take a look at Molen Kijkduin from 1772, Molen Zijpe Noorder-G and Molen Zijpe Zuider-G from 1598, the Hargermolen from 1804 and the Groetermolen from 1890 and marvel at these typical examples of Dutch architecture. Some of these mills are regularly open to the public, so you can also look around inside the mill.
