The starting point of this route is the village of Schiermonnikoog. From here you walk through the center to the dunes and the beautiful nature of the island. In the center you will find various statues and historic houses. The old, chalky dunes outside the village were already created in the period between 1450 and 1850. Since then, nature on Schiermonnikoog has had many opportunities to expand further. Look around you carefully while walking to see special plant species in the moist dune valleys. Furthermore, rabbits hop around here, among other things.
