Description
TOP Gorinchem - Surroundings Gorinchem was founded around the year 1000 as a fishing settlement on the banks of the Linge and Merwede. From the 13th century, Gorinchem developed into a medieval fortified city. Dozens of monuments and striking defenses still provide a fascinating picture of the centuries-old fortress. The beautifully restored Lingehaven is located in the historic city center and there are pleasant shopping streets and attractive terraces. Walks have been set out through the fortress and over the restored ramparts.
