Description

This route takes you through the vast nature of the Loonse and Drunense Duinen National Park. You cycle through deciduous and coniferous forests and occasionally you cycle past small meadows full of flowers. You also cycle a bit through the pleasant Brabant city of Vught. You reach the city about half way along the route. A good time to take a break in the center of Vught.

Old Brabant estates
The Loonse and Drunense dunes do not only consist of dry areas with sand and forests. For example, you also cycle through De Brand, a peat landscape that was completely excavated around 1300. Now there are centuries-old forests and meadows with a wet surface. A little further on you pass through the woods to the IJzeren Man recreational lake and the nature surrounding the Sparrendaal, Wargashuyse and Jagershagen estates. The typical style of these estates is reflected in the stately avenues here.

The Three Linden
Herberg De Drie Linden at Natuurpoort De Drie Linden is the start and end point of this route. The inn is located near the town of Giersbergen in an old farmhouse. Sit down here for a nice drink or a meal. After all that cycling you could probably use a thirst quencher.

Surprising Vught
Vught is a good place for a short stopover to stretch your legs. You reach the city after about 15 kilometers of cycling. The city was built in the 2nd century on a former swamp area. The history of Vught is therefore long, especially its ecclesiastical history. You will find many historic churches in the city and remnants of Romanesque and pre-Romanesque churches were even discovered during the restoration of the Reformed Church in Vught. In addition to historic buildings, you will also find many cozy terraces in the center of Vught. Perfect for resting and having a drink on a hot day.
