Through and around the Anna Paulownapolder

Cycle through the Anna Paulownapolder, the last polder to be built with private money. The sandy soils of the former Westpolder turned out to be well suited for flower bulb cultivation in 1912. The color splendor of tulips, carnations and other flowers is still proof of this. You pass one bulb field after another, because this is the largest continuous bulb field in the world. More than 5000 acres of horticultural area stretches out, ready to be explored on your steel steed. In the village of Anna Paulowna you can also visit a windmill. The Leonide looks like a traditional sawmill, but it never had a grinding function. In 2002 the tower mill was built to live in. Apart from the top wheel, the mill does not contain any other parts for the drive. The Leonide parts are second-hand. The octagon, for example, comes from former polder mill De Zeemeeuw from Uithuizen.
