From Hellevoetsluis to Brielle and Oostvoorne

Voorne-Putten may be mentioned in the same breath, but in fact the two islands are still separated by an old river arm: the Bernisse. This route takes you across the western island of Voorne. At the village of Rockanje you cycle along the edge of the dune forest. Stop off at Paviljoen de Duinrand for a snack or a drink. Thanks to the port, Hellevoetsluis was a prosperous town until the nineteenth century. In the harbor you will also see the Jan Blanken Dry Dock. This oldest preserved dock in the Netherlands is unique and worth a visit. From the Schrijversdijk in Brielle you have a beautiful view of the fortress belt. The fortress largely dates from the seventeenth century and is one of the best preserved defense structures in the Netherlands.
