Through the green surroundings of the Oirschotse Heide

Next to the Oirschotse Heide, the well-known Defense training area, there are several extensive nature reserves. This route takes you across the Oostelbeerse Heide. Here you walk through forests that mainly consist of Scots pine. You hardly encounter people here, so you really get the feeling of spending a day in vast nature. At the edge of the heath you have beautiful views. Be sure to take a picnic with you to strengthen your inner self and enjoy the silence and the view during your long walk. You also walk through the's-Heerenvijvers estate, which borders the Oostelbeerse Heide. The estate was founded in 1672. The area was demarcated in 1937, here and there you can still find some weathered boundary posts and old fences. Here you walk through a dry coniferous forest. Every now and then you pass a field or water feature. On the edges of the estate you will see fields and grasslands where a buzzard regularly soars through the air in search of prey.
