On foot through the Limburg town of Echt

This walk takes you through Echt, a charming Limburg village in the narrowest part of the Netherlands. In the countryside you will find plenty of natural beauty, such as the Schroevendaalse Plas.

Castle Hasselholt
You start this walk on the former Island in the Maas. The first few hundred meters you walk along the Oude Maas, which forms a quiet inland lake at this location. In the village center of Ohé you will pass the parish church and presbytery, two monumental buildings. Further on you will pass Hasselholt Castle, popularly known as Het Geudje. Originally there were three castles on the Island in the Maas, Hasselholt is the only castle still standing.

Real
At the village square you will pass the beautiful fifteenth-century Sint-Landricus church and the former town hall from 1887 in neo-Renaissance style. You will also find beautiful historic buildings elsewhere in Echt. Such as Buitenhuis Verduynen, which dates from the seventeenth century. The main building, coach house, bridge and outer wall are national monuments.
