City walk Venlo

Anyone looking for a place for a city walk may not first think of Venlo. Yet this city has a surprising mix of history, modern design and urban nature to offer. Put on your walking shoes for a beautiful route!

Juliana Park
Venlo is a Hanseatic city on the Maas that was voted the Best City Center 2013-2015 within the Medium-Sized Inner Cities category. Here you will find, among others, the Limburgs Museum and Museum van Bommel van Dam. The Juliana Park was a country estate until the nineteenth century, after which it served as a shunting yard for the railway connection to Hamburg until the Second World War.

Further on you walk past the Wilhelmina Park from 1870, on the edge you will see some beautiful villas. A remnant of the Fossa Eugeniana flows through the Burgemeester Berger Park: a seventeenth-century unfinished canal between the Rhine and the Meuse. The Second World War may have destroyed much of the historic center, but there are still some monumental gems in Venlo. Such as the town hall on the Markt, which originally dates from the fourteenth century.
