Walking in Limburg, you quickly think of the hills in the south of this province. Yet North Limburg is also ideal for wonderful walks. Such as this route through Horst and the natural surroundings.
Ter Horst
Immediately at the start of your walk, you will encounter the first sight: the ruins of Ter Horst Castle. This castle dates from the fourteenth century, but was partly destroyed by plundering soldiers during the Eighty Years' War. In 1798, the French put an end to the lordship rights of the last resident, after which the castle fell into disrepair. Only the nearby tithe barn from 1744 was spared. In Castenray you can admire the St. Matthias Church, the choir dates from 1485.
Os Kruuspunt
A little later you walk past the Castenrayse Vennen and dive into the Schadijkse Bossen. You pass the Eendracht Maakt Macht, a mill from 1899. Because it was made with parts from an older mill, two years are stated on the beard.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
