Description
In the area around Bergen in North Holland you can get a breath of fresh air along the coast. The cycling tour starts in the village of Bergen and you soon cycle into the Schoorlse Duinen, the widest dune area in the Netherlands with the highest dune tops. The rest of the route alternates between open drifting dunes, quiet forest areas and heathland. From Bergen you cycle into the dunes, where you can encounter all kinds of breeding birds. You drive into the Zijpe and Hazepolder via the coastal strip. You will pass several polder mills that used to drain the polder. The route starts and ends at Hotel Meyer in Bergen aan Zee.
