Description
Get on the pedals in the heart of Amsterdam and exchange the capital for the natural surroundings of Laag Holland in no time. Via the historic center of Landsmeer, where traces of the rich egg history are still visible, you cycle towards the Het Twiske recreation area. While cycling through the recreation area you can enjoy the beautiful Stootersplas, flowery meadows and marshlands, but Het Twiske is also perfect for a short break. For example, make a stop at one of the catering establishments and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee or lunch.
Directly from Het Twiske you cycle through the beautiful peat meadow areas of Laag Holland towards the Ilpendam-Landsmeer ferry. To better discover the peat meadow areas, it is highly recommended to cycle a bit to the Ilperveld Visitor Center with an impressive bird hide. You can take the ferry to Ilpendam and cycle through the polder to picturesque Monnickendam. Little has changed in the historic center since the eighteenth century, so there are still many monuments with beautiful facade stones to admire. The last part of the route takes you through the beautiful Zuiderwoude to the colorful and well-kept secret Broek in Waterland.
