Tour of Drenthe's quiet forestries

You start the route at De Kippesthee Koffie & Thee. In the Drentse Bossen you can still experience the silence that must once have reigned in larger parts of our country. If you hear anything at all, it is a bird defending its territory. This route takes you through a number of nature reserves that are almost contiguous: Boswachterij Grolloo, Boswachterij Schoonloo and the Sleenerzand. Grolloo Forestry consists of a mix of heathlands, extensive forests and fens. In Boswachterij Schoonloo the forest seems almost endless. Sometimes the trees suddenly part and you unexpectedly encounter an open field or a mysterious lake. The deeper you penetrate into the forest, the quieter it becomes. That almost sacred silence also characterizes the core of the Sleenerzand.
