A tour of the quiet forest ranges of Drenthe

You start the route at De Kippesthee Koffie & Thee. In the Drentse Bossen you can still experience the silence that must have once reigned in larger parts of our country. If you hear anything at all, it's a bird defending its territory. This route takes you through a number of nature reserves that are almost contiguous: Boswachterij Grolloo, Boswachterij Schoonloo and Sleenerzand. Boswachterij Grolloo consists of a mix of heaths, vast forests and fens. In Boswachterij Schoonloo, the forest seems almost endless. Sometimes the trees suddenly part and you unexpectedly come across an open field or a mysterious lake. The deeper you penetrate into the forest, the quieter it becomes. That almost sacred silence also typifies the core of the Sleenerzand.
