Near Loenen aan de Vecht is the Loenderveense Plas: a beautiful breeding ground where bird lovers armed with their binoculars will spot many water birds. The bird lover will recognize, among other things, the crown duck, the purple heron or the black tern. Part of the protected nature reserve is formed by the Waterleidingplas, where the drinking water for the Amsterdam region and the Gooi region comes from. It goes without saying that you can take a quiet walk in a protected nature reserve like this one. Strolling along the water, more towards the built-up area, you will see historic country estates. Two of them are located directly on the route, both of which once belonged to the same owner. In the nineteenth century, Johannes Willem van Reenen bought four country estates next to each other on the Vegt. Bijdorp and Vegtlust were both owned by Johanne Willen van Reenen.
