About the Hellendoornse Berg

It is quiet on the Hellendoornse Berg, a largely wooded hill of 40 meters high in Salland. There are no major roads or cities, you really leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind here. Although the Hellendoornse Berg is located on the Sallandse Heuvelrug, it does not belong to the national park of the same name. Don't worry, nature is no less beautiful for it. The whimsical oaks, white birches and ancient juniper bushes give the landscape a mysterious air. As you walk through the woods, you can well imagine that the local inhabitants used to think they saw ghosts and white women here. From the heath you occasionally have beautiful views of the surroundings. From the Hellendoornse berg you walk into the wooded Duivecate estate. The accompanying country house originally dates from the fourteenth century, the current version was built after a fire in the thirties of the last century. It is wonderful to walk here through the old avenues and along the leafy banks of the Regge. The route starts and ends in Hellendoorn where you will find plenty of places to enjoy a coffee, lunch or dinner. Enough time? Then also visit the Smederijmuseum in Hellendoorn.
