Enjoy the floodplains along the IJssel

Your route starts at Hotel Restaurant De Zwaan. This route takes you through the typical Salland landscape. You cycle through a region that consists of a mix of fields, meadows, authentic regional farms, hawthorn fences and forest plots. You also visit the picturesque town of Wijhe, in the beautiful IJssel valley. Stop by the IJssel Den Nul Information Centre for more information about the catchment area of this river, a nice place to take a break! Nearby you take a tour through the Duursche Waard Nature Reserve to climb the lookout tower. Here you can enjoy the beautiful floodplain landscape along the IJssel. You also explore De Roetwaarden, a former sand extraction that has been transformed from a deep cold water well into a natural lake. The origin of the floodplain has been made visible again with channels.
