The cycle route around the Reindersmeer is a route through the beautiful North Limburg nature. The Reindersmeer and its surroundings form an important, natural link between the Bergerheide and the Hamert. The area is wonderfully quiet and excellent to explore by bike, horseback or on foot. The Reindersmeer was created by sand excavations. Nowadays it is part of De Maasduinen National Park and more than worth a visit. Along the way you will also come across the 23 hectare De Baend nature reserve. The area was created by clay extraction for the purpose of raising the dike after the discharge of the Maas in'93 and'95. The rolling landscape is dotted with small waters and clay ridges. Many water birds feel at home here. The area is freely accessible and is grazed by Galloways and Konik horses.
