Description

In September 2014, the municipality of Beesel was chosen as the Greenest Village in the Netherlands. The jury praised Beesel as a village with an exceptionally beautiful landscape. The rural area contains a lot of rare nature. A dense network of recreational paths makes the municipality a green pearl. Beesel is therefore ideal for walking and cycling. Hiking trails, cycle paths, horse riding trails and Nordic walking routes have no obstacles. Abroad, including the Brachterwald and the town of Bruggen, is also comfortably close by. Characteristic village of Beesel The municipality of Beesel is characterized by the Limburg geniality. The village of Beesel is a characteristic village with monumental buildings and a cozy market square, surrounded by a number of catering establishments. You can taste the hospitality of the people in this village. Moreover, you can enjoy the beauty of the local ceramics. Varied offering in Reuver and Offenbeek The beautiful landscape between the different centers with its many chapels, crosses and other picturesque monuments invites you to enjoy. The different landscapes such as Meerlebroek and Beeselsbroek and the small hamlets such as Ronckenstein and Rijkel will surprise you. Tips for the road Wine learning trail Hoeve Roozendael (between 3 and 6) Good wine only comes from France? At the Roozendael estate in Reuver you can be convinced otherwise! A vineyard has been in operation in the Central Limburg terraced landscape since 2001. Take a walk along the 300-metre long wine trail and learn more about grape growing and winemaking. Have your smartphone at the ready, because even more wine secrets will be revealed via the QR code on the information panels. Cheers! Brachter Wald (between 98 and 97) This green border crossing is an ideal starting point for a walk or bike ride through Meerlebroek or Brachter Wald, among others. In recent decades, a unique heathland landscape has developed on the very nutrient-poor and dry sandy soils. The area is home to extremely rare endangered plants and animals. You will also find a lot of big game there. Because the Brachter Wald is closed to motorized traffic, you can enjoy relaxing walks and cycling here. Various hiking, cycling and Nordic walking routes have been set out in the nature reserve. More information can be found at www.vvvbeesel.nl
