City walk Hattem

The relatively small Hattem is a stone's throw from the deciduous and seam forests of the Molencaten estate and the floodplains on the Homoet. The city center is small, but very cozy. With some imagination you can see the cannons and soldiers with halberds still standing on the city walls to keep the enemy outside the walls. The Bakery Museum Het Warme Land is located here. Here you can view a wide collection of utensils from the bread and confectionery industry. After a visit to this museum, you walk to windmill De Fortuin. It is a tower mill that was built in 1816 to replace a windmill that had blown over on that spot. To strengthen the mill, a stone base was erected in 1852, with the upper half of the octagonal style being bricked. For those interested in the interior of the mill, the building is open on Saturday afternoons. Finally, you can also visit the Anton Pieck Museum, Voerman Museum Hattem. Here the history of Hattem and that of Anton Pieck go hand in hand. An antiquity room has been furnished with images, writings and topographica from the past, and Anton Pieck is of course known to everyone for his beautiful illustrations and as the creator of many fairy tales in Efteling. His work can also be admired. In addition to the permanent exhibitions, two themed exhibitions are organized every year.
