Cycling route around Zwolle

This route takes you through the green belt around Zwolle. First you drive along the wooded Agnietenberg: a river dune dating from the ice age. In Langenholte you can see some beautiful farms on the Brink. You then cycle through a landscape of grasslands, woods, gullies and reed beds. You cross the Zwarte Water river, further on you drive a long way along the floodplains of the IJssel. From the dike you have a beautiful view over the rippling water. At junction 11 is Huis te Windesheim, a manor house that originally dates from 1600. The country house was lost in a bombing raid in 1944. At Grand Café De Wettering you can get off for a drink and snack, after which you drive through the polders and along the Wijthmenerplas back to the starting point.
