Experience the Flemish Ardennes

With this tour you will discover the Flemish Ardennes, an officially recognized Regional Landscape in the province of East Flanders. You will find various biotopes here, such as pools, wetland forests and open fields. Unique to the Flemish Ardennes are the dark cranesbill, purple scale root and spotted lungwort. In the mostly small-scale landscape, the call of the black redstart, yellow wagtail and little owl can be heard now and then. During the route you will cycle through some East Flemish villages, such as picturesque Rozebeke and the pilgrimage towns of Nederbrakel and Elst. Here you will experience the typical peace and conviviality of the Flemish countryside. You also visit Zottegem, which is known as Egmontstad. Two statues, a castle and a dozen signage recall the unfortunate sixteenth-century Count Lamoraal of Egmont.
