The beautiful scenic landscape

Cycle through an old ash landscape with authentic hedgerows and lovely water streams. The soil here has been plowed for centuries and that has shaped the landscape as it is today. Back to the time of knights and princesses
Towards the end of the route you cycle past the fairytale Hackfort castle. The castle is characterized by the two towers. The fortress was originally a residential tower that was largely destroyed by Spanish troops during the Eighty Years' War. The castle was rebuilt in 1958 and underwent major renovations in 1788. The castle is located in the middle of beautiful forests and vast meadows. A beautiful area to get off your bike and stretch your legs.

The Hackfortermolen
The Hackfortermolen is located right next to Hackfort Castle. This beautiful round stone mill was built in 1851. In the early twentieth century, the mill faced competition from a nearby mill. The mill then fell into disrepair. In 1943, Baron Van Westerholt decided to repair the mill and later that year, milling resumed with the Hackfortermolen. The mill was subsequently restored in 1967, 1974 and 1985. Nowadays, milling is done on a voluntary basis. Would you like to visit the mill from the inside?
