Dike warehouses are part of the river landscape, just like a cupboard in a home or office. Did you know that there is often a world of stories behind those silent buildings along the Gelderland rivers? This route takes you past various dike warehouses in the Land van Maas en Waal. This area looks serene, but is full of primal power. Entire villages were once swept away by the river water. At the same time, the Gelderland river clay had the value of gold for the brick industry and for nature.
You can learn all about it with the brochure'Dijk secrets\\\' that you can buy for €2 at the Wijchen Tourist Office. With the help of this brochure you can read information about castles, pumping stations and mills at ten special places. The brochure is also available as a free app starring weather forecaster Margot Ribberink. You can delve into the dike secrets through photos and videos. The route starts and ends at the Wijchen Tourist Office, which is located in the Krullentoren.
