Leusden: rich in nature and culture

Leusden is partly on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and partly in the Gelderse Vallei. In and around this town you will find special landscapes and cultural-historical places. This route takes you through the region south of Leusden. You cycle along the beautiful Valley Canal, a watercourse that formed an important part of the Grebbe Line. In the landscape you can still see dozens of casemates that are silent witnesses to the battle that took place here during the Second World War. One of those casemates on the Langesteeg has been set up as a new information point about the Grebbe Line. The route then takes you through the hilly forest area of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. You drive through beautiful old towns such as Maarn and Austerlitz, along the way you see some stately country houses, such as on the Den Treek estate. The route starts and ends at the VVV Leusden.
