Tour of the Maas and Waal: Ammersoyen Castle

Your cycling route starts at the easily accessible Café restaurant Treurenburg. From here you depart for a discovery tour of the Bommelerwaard, which is embraced by the winding Maas and Waal. If you cycle over winding dikes through this unique landscape, you will see trees with their feet in the water, grasslands with abundantly blooming flowers and vast floodplains full of water birds. In addition to a unique landscape, you will also find picturesque places. Ammersoyen Castle is located in Ammerzoden, one of the best preserved authentic medieval castles in the Netherlands: a moated castle complete with a wide moat and striking corner towers. Zaltbommel is a fortified town on the Waal that is more than a thousand years old. It has become quite wealthy through trade, as you can see from beautiful old buildings such as the Maarten van Rossumhuis.
