Cycling route: 180210
Provided by: Groots Genieten
You set off on a discovery tour of the Bommelerwaard, which is embraced by the winding Maas and Waal. As you cycle over winding dikes through this unique landscape, you will see trees with their feet in the water, grasslands with exuberantly blooming flowers and vast floodplains full of water birds. In addition to a unique landscape, you will also find picturesque villages. In Ammerzoden lies Ammersoyen Castle, one of the best preserved authentic medieval castles in the Netherlands: a water castle complete with a wide moat and striking corner towers. Zaltbommel is a fortified town on the Waal that is more than a thousand years old. It has become quite wealthy through trade, which is evident from beautiful old buildings such as the Maarten van Rossum House.
