The beauty between Heino and Dalfsen

This route takes you through Salland, the region east of Zwolle. You cycle through a scenic landscape dotted with old estates and manors. Just below the Overijsselse Vecht you cycle through the park that surrounds the Den Berg manor. The oldest mention of this building dates from the end of the fifteenth century. In the eighteenth century the building was rebuilt and acquired its current appearance. You also drive through the Rechtense Veld. This varied nature reserve with coniferous forest, deciduous forest and heathlands was once a drifting sand area. The hills from this era are still clearly visible. You will encounter a number of special butterflies around the moist heathlands, such as the heather blue. During your trip through the scenic landscape you will see many authentic farms where farming is still taking place. You have beautiful views over the fields or meadows that are separated by ditches and canals. Every now and then there is a bench or picnic table in such a quiet spot to enjoy the peace and quiet. On this route you only pass through one village, Hoonhorst. This is where the Molen Fakkert is located, an octagonal tower mill where wheat was ground. The mill dates from 1868, but was dismantled in 1930. After being placed on the monument list, the mill was restored in recent years.
