Schagen, North Holland, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 180202
Provided by: Groots Genieten
Just behind the North Holland coast, it is wonderful to cycle through the vast polders. There is a lot of cultural history to experience here. For example, you cross the North Holland Canal via one of the five remaining floating bridges in the Netherlands. You also cycle over the monumental West Frisian Omringdijk. Here you have a beautiful view over the meadows and characteristic farmhouses. In Schoorl you pass the Molen Kijkduin from 1772. Further on you cycle past the old Witte Kerkje in Groet, after which you cycle through the Harger- and Pettemerpolder. The Hargermolen from 1804 still drains the polders here, but then on a voluntary basis. You can fully enjoy the peace and quiet. The last kilometers you cycle along the bulb fields in the Zijpepolder.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
