From Zeist over the Utrechtse Heuvelrug

From Zeist you can drive straight into the vast forests of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. First you cycle over Groot Heidestein. On this former estate are still some of the heaths that dominated the Utrechtse Heuvelrug more than a hundred years ago. In Boswachterij Austerlitz you cycle on the Oude Postweg to Soesterberg. Further on you cycle through the vast forests of Den Treek, an originally medieval estate. You can still see a beautiful nineteenth-century farm and gamekeeper's house here. In the middle of the Kaapse Bossen you drive past the striking Poorthuis Ruiterberg from 1917. Museum Huis Doorn gives you an idea of how the German Emperor Wilhelm II lived here. Via Driebergen you can easily drive back to Zeist. Time for a nice meal in the restaurant of Hotel FiGi.
