From Zeist across the Utrechtse Heuvelrug

From Zeist you cycle straight into the vast forests of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. First you cycle over Groot Heidestein. On this former estate you can still find some of the heathlands that dominated the Utrechtse Heuvelrug over a hundred years ago. In Boswachterij Austerlitz you cycle over the Oude Postweg to Soesterberg. Further on you cycle through the vast forests of Den Treek, an estate of medieval origin. Here you can still see a beautiful nineteenth-century farm and gamekeeper's house. In the middle of the Kaapse Bossen you cycle past the striking Poorthuis Ruiterberg from 1917. Museum Huis Doorn gives you an idea of the way in which the German Emperor Wilhelm II lived here. Via Driebergen you cycle back to Zeist at your leisure. Time for a delicious meal in the restaurant of Hotel FiGi.
