Cycling across the heath near Ermelo

The area surrounding the picturesque village of Ermelo is beautiful. You can learn more about it at the Ermelosche Heide Visitor Center. Also worth a visit: the Aardhuis, built in 1861 on the Aardmansberg. It once served as a venue for military meetings and a hunting chalet. Although now a visitor center and grand café, it still exudes that historic atmosphere. The Elspeetse Heide is a remnant of a vast heathland that once stretched across this part of the Veluwe. Heath sheep are inextricably linked to this beautiful natural area; they have grazed the Elspeetse Heide since ancient times. On the edge of Elspeet, you can visit a sheepfold where the animals are housed. Take a break nearby at Camping De Meulebarg (note: closed on Sundays). This route will keep you on your feet!
