Cycling over the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and along the Grebbelinie

From Zeist you cycle through the Zeisterbossen. By Dutch standards this is an old forest, as the trees are over 200 years old. Then you cycle around junction 10 through De Kozakkenput, a young mixed forest with many Scots pines. This forest is intersected by old avenues of beech and American oak. In Boswachterij Austerlitz you pass the Witte Huis, a former forester's house. Den Treek was originally a medieval estate. On the edge of this extensive forest you pass a nineteenth-century farm and gamekeeper's house. In the valley around Woudenberg you cycle from junction 86 along the Grebbelinie. On the canal you see several former military positions. Via Woudenberg and the forests of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug you cycle back to Hotel FiGi. Time for a drink on a terrace!
